Imagine A Day Foundation Announces $4,000 Scholarship for OHS seniors
Grants awarded to Silver Lake, Nature Hill, and Summit Schools
Oconomowoc, WI – January 28, 2016. The Oconomowoc Area School District is pleased to announce three grant awards for classroom projects around the district, and a high school scholarship, thanks to the generosity of the Imagine a Day Foundation. Approximately $8,000 was awarded to elementary and intermediate classrooms and projects. In addition, a $4,000 college scholarship ($1,000/year for 4 years) will be awarded to a high school senior.
The Imagine A Day Foundation was created in memory of Courtney Bella, by her father, Brad Bella. At age 10, Courtney was tragically killed in an automobile accident by an intoxicated driver in April of 2008. “Courtney was a gifted and creative performer,” said Bella. “Courtney had an innate creative spirit and entertained those around her, whether it was with her pen, brush, instrument or dance.” The name of the foundation was inspired by a poem Courtney wrote just weeks before her death.
The scholarships and grants are as follows:
Oconomowoc High School – The Imagine A Day, Courtney Bella Foundation Scholarship
$4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per yr.) to be awarded to an OHS graduating senior who is accepted to a 4-year accredited university. The deadline is March 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.

“We are so grateful for the support of the Imagine A Day Foundation to advance arts opportunities for our students,” said Superintendent Roger J. Rindo, Ed.D. “And the fact that the inaugural Imagine A Day Scholarship will be awarded to a member of Courtney’s graduating class makes it all the more special. What a wonderful way to honor Courtney’s memory.”
The Imagine A Day, Courtney Bella Foundation Scholarship
The inaugural Imagine A Day Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who is accepted to a 4-year accredited university, has demonstrated and sustained accomplishment through creative and/or performing arts involvement, achieved sustained academic success and has balanced those pursuits with charitable, civic and/or athletic activities as well. The student does not have to be an intended arts or music major.
The Class of 2016 is Courtney Bella’s graduating class, and as such will be the first class to be offered this award. The scholarship will continue on, as long as it is financially feasible, beginning with Courtney’s class.
