I hope you feel the excitement in the air with construction well under way at Ixonia Elementary School!  Foundation walls are currently being poured for the school’s addition, truly establishing our footprint for the future.  External construction work is not the only work that occurred over the summer months.  There has been necessary interior work done to prepare the building for very extensive renovation during the summer of 2018.  Due to this necessary internal construction, the inside of Ixonia Elementary School looks a bit different than when students left for summer break in June.  Ixonia staff and District Administration want to ensure everyone understands the necessity for the early start on this work, and will make every effort to have school feel normal to students with as little disruption as possible to the learning environment.

Construction is happening, we will embrace the landscape, and incorporate it into our 2017-18 school year theme: “Under Construction.”  When you arrive on August 29th, you will have a chance to see the changes as well as the additional theme decor.  As the school year becomes active with students, we plan to give them opportunities to create decor for the floor, ceiling and walls that will allow them to leave their mark on the old as we work towards the new.

There will be changes for all of us this year but our primary focus continues to be the safety and well-being of our students.  Patience and flexibility will be critical as we work through these new, but temporary routines. We have a very exciting year ahead with much to look forward to.  Thank you for all your support and cooperation.

Regular updates of the progress on these projects will be shared in the Ixonia Falcon Flier and can be found under the Building our Future Project Updates section of www.oasd.org.
