WELCOME TO OCONOMOWOC HIGH SCHOOL!
Thank you for visiting the Oconomowoc High School web page. OHS is a significant part of the larger Oconomowoc community and has been serving the children of this community for over 125 years. There is a proud tradition of learning and community connection that is woven into the experience of high school every day.
High school is a special time of learning and growth for every teen. We have built a program of learning, with special attention to offering students opportunities that will leave all options for their future open. We are continually looking to end tracking of students into paths and working for student choice in learning. With a wide range of college earning opportunities available through International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) classes, students are able to preview the college learning experience while still in the high school environment. These classes are also an opportunity for our students to receive college credit while in high school. On average, graduates of OHS who were IB Diplomates, receive 30 credits when entering the University of Wisconsin. The credits at college are less important than the experience in learning, but every bit helps when planning for college.
The arts and athletics play a significant role in in the life of OHS. The majority of our students participate in athletics at some level and have enjoyed many years of conference All Sport Awards, the award given to the school with the best athletics in the Wisconsin Little Ten. Many of our student athletes compete in state level play and an increasing number have earned a chance to play at the college level. Our arts students have been awarded at the State and National levels, having been shown in the Milwaukee Art Museum and showcased at the State Tommy Awards as the most recognized theater program in the State
When considering the quality of a school, particularly a high school, it is important to consider all of the facets of the learning experience and the opportunities for learning outside of the classroom. The OHS experience of Academics, Arts and Athletics, coupled with a caring environment connected to a community pride, is second to none. This is the school to push students as people and as learners. Thank you again for taking a look at who we are and what we have to offer.
