You meet them almost every day – people living in the Oconomowoc area who proudly say they are “Raccoons.”  They are often involved in community-wide efforts, members of one or more service clubs, or volunteers at multiple venues. Many who currently teach in the District discovered their love of learning while students in Oconomowoc schools.  They have stayed or come back to the area because it’s a great place to live. With its family-friendly opportunities, bountiful natural beauty and exceptional educational opportunities, Oconomowoc is just the place to live, no matter what phase of life.

Some graduates of Oconomowoc High School have taken on national and international leadership roles with skills that were forged while here in the District. Several have received extraordinary recognition and are featured on the Wall of Fame at Oconomowoc High School. 1993 OHS graduate Major Jodi Miller Maroney was honored as an latest addition to the wall of students who “must have made a significant contribution to the welfare of mankind.”  In 2003, Marine Reservist Maroney was the first pilot to fly the CH-53 Super Stallion, the military’s largest and most powerful helicopter, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Other notable OHS alums include:

  • The marketing director for the Green Bay Packers is a OHS alum; a 2004 graduate was a graphic arts designer for the Denver Broncos
  • Vice Admiral Dirk Debbink, Chief of Navy Reserve and Chief of Staff, U.S. Pacific Fleet, is a OHS alum
  • As a competitor for Concordia University, Brock Solveson is a two-time national champion in javelin
  • A 2000 graduate, now a rocket design doctoral candidate, was part of a group that traveled to Capitol Hill on behalf of Citizens for Space Exploration in support of NASA.
  • World renown jazz composer and arranger, Fred Sturm, graduated from OHS in 1969
  • 2009 graduate Taylor Johnson became the second youngest player to win the Ray Fischer Amateur Golf Championship
  • OHS graduate Jack Sutte plays trumpet with the Cleveland Symphony
  • Craig Schiefelbein, co-founder and CEO of Paragon Development Systems (PDS) graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1982. He is also co-founder and chairman of the Oconomowoc Area Foundation and is active in a number of civic organizations.

Information about OHS Alumni Directory Communication

The Oconomowoc Area School District is in the process of creating an updated alumni directory. A third-party publishing company is helping the district with this process. This week, the publishing company began outreach to all Oconomowoc High School alumni to update their data for the directory. As a result, OHS grads will get a postcard in the mail and may also get a phone call from the publishing company.

The purpose of updating our alumni directory is to make it easier for OHS graduates from all over the world connect with each other.

This is important information for the public and for alumni:

  • This is a legitimate company – PCI is the publishing company, formerly known as Harris Directory
  • OASD is working with PCI to update alumni information and create a directory
  • There is no cost to the district for this service
  • There is no cost to an individual to be listed in the directory
  • There is no obligation to be listed, simply request to opt-out at any time

We hope to have an updated OHS alumni directory in approximately one year and more information about how to purchase a directory will become available at that time. An updated directory will make it easier for people to stay in touch and coordinate reunions. Please call the district Communications Office if you have questions at 262-560-2137.
