Mission: Empowering a community of learners and leaders.
Greenland Elementary was established over 60 years ago. Located in the heart of Oconomowoc, Greenland is within walking distance of Fowler Lake and Lac La Belle. Visit Greenland on a beautiful day, and you will understand why it is considered the quintessential neighborhood school.
Greenland’s community of learning and leaders is made up of approximately 300 outstanding students, 58 dedicated, caring staff, and an incredibly involved parent community. We also have a Nationally Board Certified teacher on staff and more than 10 staff members with Master’s Degrees. Students enrolled at Greenland range from 4-year-old kindergarten to 4th grade. Greenland’s parent community is committed to the success of both the students and the staff. While this last year was unique, on a typical year, parents have regularly volunteered in classrooms, accompanied students on field trips, attended family events, and have generously donated thousands of dollars to support Greenland. This year, we thank the PTO for supporting Greenland’s All School Read and playground equipment. We would not have been able to make these things happen if it were not for our very talented, hardworking, and generous PTO. They have organized and sponsored the following events: Movie Night, the Fun Run, Book Fairs, Book Swaps, the School Dance, the Science Fair, Packer Outreach Camp, Book Character Parade, and Greenland Games.
Greenland has been recognized by the Department of Public Instruction, as well as, the Wisconsin RTI Center. We have received recognition for our work in behavior and academics. We have received the Wisconsin Title 1 School of Recognition Award for expanding the implementation of a multileveled system of support for improving student outcomes.
Students at Greenland have been able to expand their horizons by participation in clubs such as: Student Council, Scratch Club, Minecraft Club, Board Game Club, 3rd and 4th Grade Drama Club, and the Best Buddies Friendship Club.
Greenland embraces PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Staff take a proactive approach to developing student’s social skills.
Students and families at Greenland have given back to the larger community by donating to Best Buddies, the Oconomowoc Area Food Pantry, and TMJ4’s Community Baby Shower.
The 2021-2022 school year promises to be an exciting journey. We are excited for the students to return to a new Maker Space. Please feel free to call, email, or stop by the office. I look forward to serving the students, families, and staff of Greenland Elementary.
