Outdoor Classroom

The outdoor classroom offers countless ways to enrich the learning of all students at Park Lawn. It is a powerful vehicle that is used to achieve educational goals while naturally motivating our young students to learn. The outdoor classroom facilitates learning in many ways.

As a never-ending site for inquiry based science, it addresses the different learning styles of our students.  It helps our students utilize measuring, graphing, mapping, and mathematical skills to solve real-world problems. Our students engage in scientific observation, data collection, analysis and forming conclusions. The outdoor classroom provides inspiration for writing and art activities and a peaceful atmosphere for reading.

The OC was made possible through the finacial support of Oconomowoc Public Education Foundation OPEF and Park Lawn PTO. Construction was completed by MJS Landscaping in the summer of 2014. OASD Maintance Department renovated access to the space to allow equipent and material in and out of the OC.

Continued Growth

Early in the 2014-2015 school the OC will add a pergola over the seating area along with benches and standing workstation throughout. Compsting will be added and our first vegetables will be planted and harvested.
