The Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) and the Oconomowoc High School (OHS) Athletic Department are excited to announce that Sal Logue has accepted the position of Interim Head Football Coach for the 2020 season. Coach Logue has served as Defensive Coordinator on the OHS Raccoon Football team for the last three seasons and is currently a health teacher on the OHS faculty.

In March, OHS shared the commitment to conduct a complete and thorough interview process. However, given the recent school closure due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, OHS was unable to perform an extensive interview process.

OHS Athletic Director Kevin Flegner stated, "I am thrilled that Coach Logue has accepted the offer to lead our football program. Sal brings significant coaching experience and knowledge to this position. His dedication, passion, and leadership show through in everything he does here at OHS. I know Coach Logue and his staff will build trust, instill hard-work, and will be great role models for our players."

Coach Logue added, "I am very excited and honored to be named the head coach of the Oconomowoc Football Program. I believe we have the right combination of people in regards to players, coaches, parents, administrators, and community members to make our program the absolute best it can be."

OASD and OHS are thankful to Coach Logue for stepping up and leading the OHS football program next this fall! Now more than ever, OHS football players need to feel connected to the school community and need a leader who understands them as individuals and is familiar with the program. Coach Logue's football coaching experience, commitment to our program, sincere respect for our students make him the perfect person to lead our team.

The Markesan vs Palmyra-Eagle boys basketball semi-sectional game will be played at Oconomowoc High School at 7pm tonight, March 12, 2020. Oconomowoc will be following the WIAA State games policy. This policy limits attendance to 88 tickets per team. The two school's administration will decide who attends the game.

Click on this link to view the game on our YouTube channel.

The game will show up here 15 minutes before tip off tonight. Once it goes live, your fans can click on the game labeled Markesan vs Palmyra-Eagle and watch the game. Best of luck!

The Boys Basketball Sectional game against Madison East will still occur at 7:00 p.m. tonight. However, it appears that many Madison area school districts have implemented a 50 person maximum attendance for all school events. This includes Madison East, who will only participate if the host school abides by the 50 person rule. Therefore, we will have to play tonight's game without any fans or parents present. The game is currently scheduled to occur at Middleton High School. However, they do not have live-streaming technology, so we are looking for a new location. If a new location is found, Coach Benish or our Athletic Office will be in touch regarding opportunities to view the game on a live-streaming service.

We apologize for the inconvenience. It is important to prioritize the safety of our students, families, and staff. Refunds for any student who purchased a Fan Bus ticket on the webstore will be refunded to you as soon as possible.

The WIAA has informed Oconomowoc High School (OHS) that they will limit spectators at this weekend's State Tournament in Green Bay. Each team will be allowed to travel with 22 individuals, and each individual will receive four tickets to the game. Therefore, we will have to cancel all fan buses, and students should not drive themselves, as they will not be able to gain entry to the Resch Center.

OHS has not yet been notified by WIAA regarding tonight's OHS Boys Basketball Sectional game against Madison East in Middleton. We will communicate details to staff, students and families as soon as they are available.

We apologize for the inconvenience. It is important to prioritize the safety of our students, families, and staff. Refunds for any student who purchased a Fan Bus ticket on the webstore will be issued.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OCONOMOWOC, WI- February 26, 2020. The Oconomowoc High School (OHS) Head Football Coach Greg Malling has informed OHS and the Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) that he will be stepping down from his role after three years of service to the OASD football program. He will continue his teaching duties as an OHS English teacher.

Coach Malling helped lead the transition of the OHS football program into the Classic Eight Conference and led the transformation of bringing 7th and 8th-grade youth football into our middle schools.

OHS Athletic Director Kevin Flegner stated, "Coaches are often judged on wins and losses, but we must always remind ourselves that this is only one piece of the big picture. Being role models, putting student-athletes in a position to compete and be successful, and teaching life skills are essential components coaches can instill in their student-athletes. Coach Malling and his staff brought these attributes to the field every day." He went on to say, "Greg's vision, passion, and drive for his players to be excellent in all facets of life have laid the groundwork for our future teams to be successful. Greg and I have worked together for many years, and what I will remember most is his selfless attitude and his passion for education-based athletics."

OHS Head Football Coach Greg Malling included, "I appreciate the opportunity I was given to help usher OHS into the Classic 8. While that transition has been incredibly trying, it has also revealed the incredible toughness and discipline of a group of young men and their parents. It was exhilarating to be around. " He added, "I know with the leadership of Dr. Rindo, Mr. Curtis, and Mr. Flegner, Oconomowoc has incredible days ahead. I can't wait to see us grow. I'm excited about the chance to finally pursue further interests and opportunities in education, something I've been saying I'd do "soon" for the past 21 years."

OHS and the OASD wish Greg the very best as he pursues some of his other life passions. The District's goal is to interview and announce the next OHS Head Football coach as quickly as possible. Until that announcement takes place, the OHS Athletic Department and football coaching staff will run the day to day operations of the program.

The Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) is committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff and providing fast and accurate information in a time of emergency. In a time of crisis, we utilize email, phone calls, social media, OASD website posts, and work with local media to share information. On January 7, 2019, we will be introducing text messaging as another option to communicate emergency information with families. You will need to complete several steps to ensure you receive these text messages.
