PBIS - Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports


PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.

At Ixonia, (a PBIS School of distinction) our expectations are: Be Safe, Be Kind,Be a Learner and Keep Everyone In Mind.  

We model and teach our expectations school wide on a consistent basis based on data collection.

  May Focus:

Our May focus continues to be around empathy, but our focus will turn to empathy for one another. Our goal for May/June is to surpass the 90 falcon feasts earned in April. The class with the most falcon feasts earned will get two Kona Ice flavors on Field Day.

School-wide positive behavior support is a set of problem solving strategies and processes that can be used to build upon a school's existing strengths.  PBIS includes proactive school-wide discipline systems to create environments in which...

a) learning and teaching are valued and agressive,  unsafe behaviors are discouraged

b) respect, responsibility, cooperation and other highly valued character traits are taught and encouraged

c) individual differences are valued rather than criticized

d) educating students with disabilities can be supported more effectively and efficiently and

e) teaching fundamental skills like reading and math can be maximized.
