Learners & Leaders Action Research Journal

a professional research journal published by our OASD staff

The OASD Learners and Leaders Action Research Journal is designed to engage the OASD educators who are focused on leadership and research, in the 2019-2024 Oconomowoc Area School District Strategic Plan.  This research is intended to lead educational practice within the OASD and inspire educational practice in our region.

Research, as disciplined inquiry, can contribute enormously to the work of educational leaders.  Action research, conducted by individuals or teams of practitioners, is a process that enables educators to:

  • Improve student learning
  • Improve their own practice
  • Contribute to the development of the teaching profession
  • Overcome the isolation commonly experienced by educators (Glanz, 2014).

 

OASD educators are invited to participate in the Learners and Leaders Research Grant process annually.  Participation is voluntary but requires our staff members to examine an educational problem in a school setting, then create a data-driven research proposal that addresses this problem and aligns with our strategic plan goals.  If the research proposal is approved, educators must implement their plan then prepare a report of their findings.  Each year, the OASD will publish the Learners and Leaders Action Research Journal as a compilation of the completed research articles from the previous year.
