MainStage Academy of Dance with the BrayBallet Company will celebrate the 10th anniversary of “The Nutcracker Ballet” leaping onto the OAC’s Main Stage at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8.
Going to see Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet at the OAC has become a holiday tradition in the Lake Country area. With Artistic Director Eddy Bray’s choreography, amazing set design and the magical musical score of Peter Tchaikovsky, the 10th annual production promises to delight audiences of all ages.
More than 30 dancers were selected from MainStage Academy’s Ballet Program to perform in this year’s “Nutcracker.” There are over 100 costumes featured in the performance, including handmade costumes made in Moldova and intricate masks from Amsterdam.
“We’ve reached a historic milestone - MainStage Academy of Dance has been performing the Nutcracker for 10 years at the OAC! Over 17,000 people have enjoyed more than 50 performances of our holiday classic,” said Bray. “With the beautiful sets, handmade costumes, hidden surprises, guest dancers from BrayBallet Company, as well as MainStage alumni, the production is sure to be memorable.”
Sinatra and Company will bring “That Holiday Feeling” fun-filled variety show to the OAC’s Main Stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
Featuring the talents of accomplished singer and producer Colleen Raye, award-winning vocalist Tim Patrick, and top-notch big band vocalist Debbie O’Keefe, each bringing their own brand of talent and charisma to the stage, along with the amazing 10-piece Blue Eyes Band.hind the scenes look at what goes into the making of MainStage Academy of Dance’s production of “The Nutcracker.” Meet cast members, learn a few dance movements, create a craft to take home, and learn what goes into putting on make-up and styling hair.
Get into the spirit with renditions of holiday songs made famous by Andy Williams, Karen Carpenter, Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters, Nat King Cole, Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd, and Frank Sinatra, as well as sing a-longs, audience participation, comedy, and rousing versions of classic holiday tunes like “Joy to The World,” “Ring Those Christmas Bells,” “Oh Holy Night,” “The Little Drummer Boy” and more.
