Career Internship is a work-based learning program designed to offer students credit for applying their employability skills on the job. Students must complete the prerequisite course, Career Portfolio, IB Personal & Professional Skills (IB PPS), or AVID 10, which works through the elements of the job search process, creating a resume and cover letter, and the elements of an interview, including a mock interview. Through this program, students will work towards completion of a state Employability Skills Certification offered through the Department of Public Instruction.
Students interested in a Career Internship need to obtain a job and work at least 15 hours a week throughout the semester. Students qualify for, but are not required to take, up to 1 block of work release in order to obtain their work hours. Employment must be secured by the start of the semester, or the student may be removed from the course.
