All requests must be completed annually online using the form located on the District website on or before April 30 for the following school year. Parents of resident students requesting intra-district transfers by April 30 will be notified no later than May 15. Parents(s) or guardian(s) requests will be considered under the following circumstances:
- When the request is a result of child-care arrangements for 4K only. Students would return to their attendance area school for 5K.
- When the request would allow the student to complete fourth or eighth grade at the school in which the student is currently enrolled after a change of residence within the district.
- When the request results from an in-district change of residence during the school year and when the affected class is below current class-size policy and regulation limits.
- The District will make every effort to keep siblings together with the understanding that students would not be at multiple school locations at the same level.
- When the request would achieve more equitable class-size balance throughout the district, within the adopted policy and regulation limits.
No more than one transfer will be allowed in any school year under this provision, except for those resulting from change of residence. The district will not accept responsibility for transportation to or from school in these cases.
Transfer requests granted under this provision are only for the school year in which the written request is made. Written requests must be renewed annually by April 30 through the on-line application on the District website. In-district transfer approval for the following school year may be denied if the student has excessive tardies or absences that are not medically excused, thus leading to chronic absenteeism.
Late Requests (After April 30):
Requests for the following school year received between May 1-August 30 will only be considered for unique circumstances involving a recent move, changes in childcare, or other situations that impact the safety of the student or family.
Mid-year requests for in-district transfers will not be accepted unless there are extenuating circumstances regarding student safety and other options to resolve the issue have been exhausted with the Principal and Director of Student Services. Mid-year transfer approvals are very rare.
